My RoUnD Cookies

This is just the case.. I’m supposed to be studying my hinie off and instead I’m ProcrastiBaking (It’s my new favourite word, thanks Barbara!).  

One of my besties (Naya) is coming over from her long trip around the world and will be visiting me this coming week.. I’m so freaking excited, haven’t seen for a year! She made me promise to bake something with her during her short stay, but between preparing for exams and uni work I just gave it a head start and bake the main pieces when she gets here. 

There’s the recent craze for making cakes and cupcakes shaped as Despicable me Minions along side the muppets. I’ve decided to give it a try with the Cookie Monster, just because I want cookies too!!

I’ve made many chocolate chip cookies but they never turned out quite as perfect as the ones you see on magazines or baking books, or even in other people’s blog 😦 But today is the DAY I’ve made my first perfectly round cookies 🙂 🙂 

SO here we go..


  • 100 gr of butter 
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1¼ cup all purpose flour(+ 1 tbsp)
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • white and milk chocolate 

Usually you would use the chocolate drops/chips, but I think it’s just cheaper and better to have normal chocolate bars and chop them up into small squares.

Oven on at 180°

In a medium bowl mix the flower, baking soda and salt.

In a second bowl I slightly melted the butter in order to make the mixing easier and smoother. You can melt it either in the oven (like I did) or in the microwave. After it cools down, whisk together the vanilla, and both white and brown sugar. Add the egg til completely incorporated in the mix. 

Add the flour a bit at the time. I added an extra tbsp of flour to avoid the dough being too wet and sticky. after which I added the choc crumbs from the chopped up bars, and the end result you should be able to make a consistent ball, mind it will still be a bit sticky when you first handle it. 


The IDEAL choc chip cookies is always the mega huge one, that after eating it makes you feel like a pig, but you don’t really care because it was worth every bite! 😛 

For the Cookie monster cupcakes I made the cookies smaller than usual to fit them in it mouth. 


I rolled all my small dough balls and lined them up on a tray with baking paper. It’s the first I use this recipe and I wasn’t quite sure how big they would become, so make sure there is enough space for them to enlarge and settle in the oven without them sticking together. 

As for the chocolate squares, I’ve placed them on top of the balls, not pressing too hard, keep them rounded still. I’ve noticed that if you mix the chocolate in the dough, it will end up in the bottom and burn 😦 so just place them on top.


And now in the oven for 8 mins 🙂 


I made quite a few and there are more than enough for the future C.Monsters. I used the leftover dough and made a pretty big one for me, myself and I.
