I did say I was gonna bake something else… not quite the marshmallows I was predicting and planning on though.
I’ve started going to a gym and all my sessions are really early in the morning, like 7 am start (by choice obviously). Start the day strong and get to work after that 🙂 Because of this I always end up having breakfast and lunch at university and I found that milk and cereal in a container are not the comfiest or best of option 😛 So I’ve decided to try making my own granola bars. I’ll start simple and see how this goes. If I end up gaining weight because of these babies, I’m gonna have to change strategy! :3
200 gr butter (soft and cubed)
1 1/2 cups flour
2 cups rolled oats+1/4 cup
1 cup of brown sugar
1 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
Strawberry jam (I used a couple of spoon fulls, just enough to cover the first layer)
Preheat oven 180° and line a baking tray with parchment.
Put butter, flour, 2 cup oats, sugar baking powder and salt in a bowl and mix by hand till evenly combined. Press half of the mix in the tray in order to cover all the surface, you can add more if needed of course.
Cover this layer with jam. I didn’t put too much just enough to cover everything.
Add the 1/4 cup oats in the mixture and then sprinkle it all on top of the jam. Lightly press on so it’s more compact.
Put in the oven for 30 mins. Let it cool completely before cutting it.
And there you go! Lovely breakfast-post workout treats. These should keep me going all day 😉
