Valentina’s Banana Cake

Yep… this is not only pre-exam jitters! I’m going back home for a month and it is too exciting to actually sleep!! O.O

So I made yet another cake. The name is simply because I used no recipe whatsoever, and literally used ingredients I had in the kitchen. Hopefully this turns out yummy and doesnt ruin my past records of awesomeness… (who is cocky now?!) a haha



1/2 cup+ 1tbsp sugar

2tbsp veg oil

2 bananas (smash one and cut the other in round slices)

1cup flour

1tsp baking powder

1/2 cup milk

3tbsp sour cream

pinch of salt


Turn oven on 180°. Even with a hand whisk (everyone was sleeping in my flat, so highly unnecessary and not- recommended to use an electric whisk) beat sugar, oil and egg. When combined, add flour and baking powder + salt. Add the milk, smashed banana and sour cream.

Grease and flour a cake tin.


Pour the batter in the tin. Decorate the cake with the cut up banana.


Place in the oven for 40-60 mins or until the skewer comes clean from the centre of the cake.

In hind-sight I should’ve put the banana slices at the bottom of the pan so you could turn it around. But this wy I’ll just leave it as it is. It is very likely that the slices will be covered by the batter when it starts rising in the oven. I am clearly writing this while I’m baking the cake, so I still have 20minutes to discover if it turned out well and tonight to try it, taste wise 🙂
