Oreo and Jam truffles

It was my friend’s Brownie and Brandy Alexanders birthday this weekend but between work, internship and uni I really didn’t have the time or the will (let’s say it) to make anything bake-worthy 😦

So I have made these once before this past summer and they were AMAZE-balls. I decided to make them again with a couple of tweaks and by memory so they meet be different from the original version. Important thing is.. I silenced a chatty group of 10 when the birthday girl took them out 😉

INGREDIENTS (makes 28 walnut size truffles)

2packs of Oreo cookies

2 (abundant) tbsp of cream cheese (and i mean don’t be too precise with this measurement, depends on how sticky you want them to be. If you put more, they will be moist)

100gr jam

1 pack of white chocolate discs/chips

First things first, put all the Oreos in a bowl and crush them. I don’t have a food processor, but if you do, do it crumb them with that. I used my fondant rolling pin to crush them 🙂

Try not to leave too many big chunks, it will make the process a bit harder later on. It is a bit of work, get your arms working! but it’s worth it in the end. Put the cream cheese and, with your hands, start mixing till it’s all well combined. Once that is done, start making balls. The mixture will be sticky. You can choose how big or small to make them. I made them walnut size and made 28.


I thought about making them with jam after actually making the balls but i think it was a better this way. Cut each ball in half (this when the big chunks would be a problem) and put a small amount of jam in the middle and close them again. If you put too much jam it will come out as soon as you close them up again.

Put them on a tray and rest in the fridge for at least an hour. Just before taking them out, melt the chocolate a bagnomaria, over simmering water on low heat.


Drop a ball at the time in the chocolate, cover them completely and take out with a fork. Try to take off the excess chocolate by tapping the fork on the edge of the bowl and then place on a tray. Once you’ve covered all the truffles, place the tray in the fridge once a again. I left them over night, but you can obviously leave them half an hour and then eat them directly.

I added a couple of fondant decorations to make them a bit special 🙂 But you can even simply drizzle dark chocolate on them or even some sprinkles. Up to you really!

  1. I’m “glad” to read you saying you didn’t have much time and then seeing the amazing fondant decorations you applied to the delicious oreo truffle balls. You are truly and amazing lady! As always your ideas are mouth watering and irresistible and back home we all hope in your using us as very willing guiniea pigs for future culinary enterprises.
